Carlsbad Graduation Summit

The Carlsbad Municipal School District is asking the community to partner with us in a Carlsbad Graduation Summit on May 8, 2010.  The purpose of the Summit is threefold: 1) to call attention to the dropout problem in Carlsbad, 2) to collaboratively arrive at solutions that will impact the lives of current and future Carlsbad youth, and 3) to engage students, parents and community leaders in a conversation and action agenda.

We realize that it takes people power to host a Summit with the kind of follow-up actions that will make a difference in the lives of Carlsbad students, our future graduates.  Carlsbad High School has a flat graduation rate hovering at 64%, compared to 70% nationwide.  Our students are not graduating at a rate that our community expects.  We know that we must take bold steps in our reform efforts.  Working together with students, parents and the community, we can ensure that more graduates are prepared to fill the demands of our community's workforce and civic life.

11:30-12:00  Closing Session

12:00-1:00  Lunch

1:00-3:00  Action Team Meeting

A shuttle service is available to provide transportation to and from the event, if needed.  Childcare is also available for children ages 10 and under. Please provide needed information for children requiring care when registering for this event.
